Today, I was going through some older videos I recorded. I came across this one listed below and found a need to share. After last nights discussion on the Maritime Woodworker's Shop Talk - show. I mentioned why (upon one of the questions from a member on the panel) I have started uploading videos to YouTube. Now this was related to the subject of woodworking and such, but I wanted to share a little more in depth reasoning.
Often times I find it necessary to take the easy way out. Whether it would be cause of time, money or just the pure need to preserve patience. Finding angles on a table saw is a great place to share this example of easy way out. In some of the projects that I have take on in the past, I found it necessary to be pretty accurate in matching angles. The wooden bucket requires a nine degree angle cut. Using any angle finder may be able to dial you in close, but a digital angle finder would be the best. My personal hobby budget doesn't allow for such a high tech piece of equipment in my shop. So, I needed to come up with an alternative.
I am an Apple product user, most of all I own electronic has an "i" thing attached to it. Example being my phone, an iPhone. So, I went digging for an alternative to the digital angle finder a person could order from Amazon. Here is what I came up with:
Basic Angle Finder by Beginning to Sign. ( found on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/basic-angle-finder/id503813798?mt=8 )
I can't speak of the total longevity of this application or if the developer is 100 percent reliable to updating this application. I am able to speak that it works for me and has come in pretty handy when needing to find an angle. Let me know how it works for you if you decide to give it a try.
In this weeks episode we will learn the process of making the jigs for this wooden bucket. Also, I will share a few tips and trick on how you could improve the process of making your wooden buckets. Stay tuned to when this video launches on my dedicated YouTube Channel to woodworking and creating DIY crafting projects.
