About Me

The pioneer days of the internet was the spark that elevated my interesting in Graphic Design and Web Design. I have seen the progressive states of Web Design to what it has become today. Many people feel that their presence on the web is all you need to be recognized. The truth is good design and directional development is the core success of internet presence. Ferris State University Graphic Design Program has been a great step in the process of learning the entire process of good design and development. Additionally, I have many passions. One passion is working with cut paper and designing an array of digital files that aid the online digital cutter community. When designing, the skill set that I have acquired through the Graphic Design Program has aided in the refinement of my passionate endeavor.

The design process of Graphic Design had taught me the use of positive and negative space. I had also learned to techniques that involved color theory and balance in a composition. More importantly, I was able to refine my work flow in the manual creations of compositions and designs.

Examples of my work:

In my freshman year in the Graphic Design Program I had learned how to create illustration in a multiple ways. One of the work flows that I had used excessively to create my illustrations was Illustrator CS4. My process would include multiple creations using paper, pencil and markers before taking to the computer.

Examples of my work:

In the program I had learned the values of typography and how it is applied to design. These fundamentals have broaden my understanding of how type can influence. I had designed not only my Resume´ but also a Type Specimen Book, poster, magazine spread, and a newsletter.

At the beginning of my Sophomore year, one task I was given was to create a "How To" website. My project consisted of not only the wireframing process of this site but also the prototyping using Adobe Photoshop CS4.

Examples of my work:

Learning how to operate a DSLR camera to create images that could be used in Graphic Design was the main focus of this work set. I had learned to use proper lighting, composition alignment using the rule of thirds, and the fundamentals of cropping with a lens. I had also learned the workflow in capturing images in a Macro situation and the importance of of using proper shutter speed and flash lighting.

Examples of my work:

I had learned in digital imaging class to not only create compositions that reflected design, but to manipulate the compositions in Photoshop CS4. I had worked with multiple layers, filters, and brushes to compose photo quality images that could be used in the Graphic Design industy.
